What began 7 decades ago as a family passion, sharing and selling old world bourbon and trading stories with the grandfathers of the bourbon industry grew over the years into producing our own brands from hand selected, rare barrels of intensely flavored whiskey. Since the mid 1980s, collectors and fans around the world who crave those big rich bourbons have discovered our unique bottlings.
OUR STORY
In recent years, we’ve been frustrated trying to source the magically intense barrels of yore, and realized that old school flavor we longed for just didn’t exist today. That’s when we decided to build on our historical tobacco farm in Bardstown, a true micro-batch distilling facility.
Preservation has been quietly distilling our own, small production bourbon and whiskey in 1-3 barrel batches. These are minuscule lots with no particular release dates as we just won't bottle our whiskey before it's time. But that’s ok…we’re not in a hurry.
BEHIND THE BOTTLE
Guests who come to Preservation are taken aback by the panoramic views of Kentucky's Bourbon Country in all its glory and rich tradition. Our farm, once the land trust of one of the first distillers in Kentucky, is rich with historical significance, one of the many things we treasured when we found this special property. Thus the name, Preservation, underscoring the centuries of local bourbon and whiskey history here, and our personal distilling philosophy of Thinking Forward, Looking Back (while making big fat bourbons!).
We're dedicated to keeping the regional traditions here alive by maintaining the craft of Kentucky Bourbon distilling while preserving the land and magical way of life here for our children and future generations.

Preservation Farms' artisan craft distillery and historic barns are set in the rolling hills of Bardstown, Kentucky's Bluegrass Country, along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. Green pastureland surrounds our picturesque distillery. Our story's elegant grain + grass fed Bluegrass Longhorns, and pure limestone aquafers support our commitment to the art of sustainable, slow distilling. When you visit you will understand why we chose this specific environment to create the big, rich flavors we'd dreamed of distilling for decades. Our farm and distillery sit on 40 beautiful acres and we can't wait to share it, and our unique micro batch bourbon and whiskey with you.
